1 Day Introduction to Mindfulness Workshop

This workshop is for people unable to commit to an 8-week course for the time being but wish to find out more about mindfulness. The workshop can also be a refresher for people who have done a mindfulness course and are out of practice. On the day, participants work in a small group whose self-care is at the heart of the workshop. They are supported to be with their experiences of the longer and shorter, stillness and movement practices with a relaxed curiosity. The teacher will guide discussion of practice experiences and shares contemplative poems and stories in class. At the end of the workshop, there will be opportunities to discuss with the teacher what the next step might be .This course is available for organisations and departments.

For information on our next workshop, contact us at hello@mindbodypresence.org.

“The 1-Day Introductory Workshop has really helped me understand what mindfulness is and isn’t.”
D. Pearson, Director of Behaviour Change Training

8-Week Mindfulness-Based Programme

The content is drawn on the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme originated at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in the 1970s. It also integrates aspects of the related 8-week Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) programme. The small group of participants are supported to be with their experiences of the longer and shorter, stillness and movement practices with a relaxed curiosity. For the duration of the course, participants undertake home practices for up to an hour a day. The teacher will guide discussion of practice experiences and shares contemplative poems and stories in class. There are opportunities for helpful exchanges on how to continue practising after the course. This course is available for organisations and departments.

Mindful 1-2-1

You may have reasons for choosing to work individually with us; Mindful 1-2-1 is more flexible in terms of timing, process and duration. If you choose this option, you are required to first book a brief telephone conversation with us. Please get in touch via our Contact Form. We would like to find out more about your situation and expectations and explore the results of the brief questionnaire that we ask all clients to complete and keep as part of their self-care portfolio.

Follow-on classes

From spring 2018, we will be hosting monthly evening classes and two 1-day silent retreats a year for people who have completed an individual or group programme with ourselves or other providers. Dates available soon

Practical information

Venue: Currently the 8-week course takes place in Hammersmith, London W6, unless it is commissioned by an organisation. Mindful 121 takes place in West and Central London and Hillingdon.

What to wear: Comfortable clothes in layers – bearing in mind that it is impossible to find a room temperature to suit everyone. Socks or flat shoes are recommended, though you may also wish to experience some of the practices barefooted.

What to bring: Some mats and cushions will be available but please bring any equipment that works well for you.

Limits to our service: Mindfulness can bring some people to their vulnerability quickly. There are situations where other approaches are more appropriate.

Your presence is important to us. We hope that in stating the limitations explicitly, you will not be deterred from joining the workshop. If there are personal difficulties that you would like to discuss with the teacher beforehand, we would be pleased to arrange a confidential telephone conversation.
